Carrier Review: QB Collection SSC

Carrier Review: QB Collection SSC

I have always been a fan of SSCs ( soft structured carriers) and rarely meet an SSC I don't love, so when I learned about QB Collection's SSC I was excited to try it out. QB Collection is a known brand for babywearing in the Philippines and their wraps and ring slings are very affordable and recommended. So when they branched out to making SSCs and Onbuhimos, a lot of people were excited and had high hopes for their new line. When I received the tester SSC from QB Collection I expected to fall in love with it immediately and was not disappointed.

The SSC I received was a half wrap conversion, meaning the outer part was from a wrap but the inner part was made from a different material. It was the red rainbow that was pretty in pictures but even prettier in person. It really was a scene stealer. The bright colors popped and the lengthwise cut made the wearer look tall and slim, a plus for a chubby momma like me. The waist belt was padded but thinner and harder than what I was used to. The shoulder straps looked okay but when I tried them on, they were short on me, and even when I played with the settings, they kept hitting me at the armpit line at my back and dug there uncomfortably. The panel was nice and high and kept my son from leaning out and splatting himself but was already short for his legs, mind you my son is only 13 months old and weighs 8.2 kgs.

We tried wearing Red the first day we got it but since it's summertime, we didn't last long with it in the heat. We would wear it daily for a week but the longest wear was only at 3 hours and my back was aching after it. The shoulder straps were a nightmare for a fluffy backed momma like me. Breastfeeding was a bit hard even with the PFAs (perfect fit adjusters) because my son gets too low and it became hard to maneuver around but we still managed. As for the sleepy dust, there is still some sleepy dust power! But only for short periods of time, after an hour in, my kid would wake up. I tried to make my husband wear it but the waist belt was almost at the end of the line and it was uncomfortable for him to use it. This made me think that this SSC was made for thin people, haha!

I would probably rate this SSC at 6/10 and recommend it for thin parents with a small budget. QB Collection SSCs retail at around 2,500 pesos and when on sale they can go as low as 2000 Php. There are tons more SSCs out there that are way more comfortable to use if you're chubby like me. The price point is a great factor to consider as it is one of the cheapest in the market but there is also the safety testing factor to consider since this one hasn't undergone any testing as of the moment. All in all I was happy I was given the chance to test this SSC but I won't be buying it for myself as we don't really fit, literally.
