Raising Gen Z

Raising Gen Z

Zentennials are those kids considered to be Post-Millennials, or the iGeneration, and are kids born in 2000 or later. The Philippines is one of the countries with the biggest number of Zentennials, with a whopping 30% of the population. They are the teens with the iPhones and the kids addicted to Minecraft. I was super happy to be invited to such a huge event that covers parenting that is generationally-targeted. Thanks to Mommy Mundo and Our Awesome Planet for coming up with Zentennials: The Making of the Greatest Filipino Generation.

This was a whole day event that featured amazing experts who shared their experiences and knowledge with the parents in attendance. Tickets were available at P1,500 single Rate, P1,200 for couples and P1,000 for groups of 5 or more. Based on their Facebook page, the main point of the symposium is:

The very first conference of its kind, Zentennials: The Making of the Greatest Filipino Generation will gather the country’s top experts, advocates, and influencers from the digital, academe, business, and parenting spheres. More than gaining a deeper understanding of Generation Z, Zentennials hopes to school this generation and their parents with the proper knowledge and skills to become successful content producers. The vision of Zentennials is to transform the Philippines into the social media capital of the world in terms of content production, bringing the Filipinos’ creativity and ingenuity into the global arena.

Here are some of the highlights of the day:

I learned a lot from the speakers they had, and the lessons were everything from being a mom to being a wife to being a teacher to being a boss. I feel so privileged to be able to attend such a wonderful event and I hope there are more events like this, as parents and educators alike will benefit a lot from the topics especially in this digital age. Thank you also to major sponsors PLDT Fibr, Belo Baby, and Sunlife. Thank you to RJ Dancel and Millennial Moms PH for inviting me. 1st Smart Parenting Convention

1st Smart Parenting Convention

I was invited to witness the first ever Smart Parenting Convention last July 29, 2017, which was held at the Megatrade Hall of SM Megamall in Ortigas. It was a whole day affair filled with amazing parenting talks and workshops, as well as tons of wonderful booths to buy the best baby and kiddie stuff. The fun-filled day was sponsored by Belo Baby, Calpol, Insular Life and powered by PLDT Fibr. They all had their own booths and had giveaways for attendees.

The day was divided into 4 blocks: Pregnancy, Baby, Toddler, and Family. Each block has a guest expert speaker/facilitator. Upon registering, an attendee is asked to pick 2 blocks to attend and the workshops were set in the afternoon. For Pregnancy, the experts were Chiqui Brosas and Dr. Aurora Tajan. They spoke about preparing for pregnancy and tackled pregnancy myths. For the Baby block, Sharon Agoncillo-Galang along with Chiqui Brosas spoke about newborn skin care and baby sign language. For Preschoolers, Michelle Lichauco-Tambunting of Young Creative Minds Preschool covered discipline and raising kids in the digital age. For the Family block, Aya Alaraya taught the importance of savings and investment for the family's future.

While waiting for the workshops to begin, attendees were invited to browse among the many booths available at the hall. Guests were invited to vote for their favorite booth and here are my top picks!

They also had a play area and special places for breastfeeding and diaper changes. The play area was provided by The Learning Playground.

Thank you Summit Media for inviting me, I had a great time checking out all the stuff, meeting mommy friends and spending time with my son.  For information about parenting the smart way and events like these, you can check out their websiteFacebookInstagram and Twitter for more details.
