We are #CLEFTSTRONG: Proud Families of Cleft Cuties Support Group 2nd Year Anniversary!

We are #CLEFTSTRONG: Proud Families of Cleft Cuties Support Group 2nd Year Anniversary!

Proud Families of Cleft Cuties is a Facebook Support Group for families with cleft babies/children. But what does being a cleft baby mean? According to Web MD, cleft lip and cleft palate are facial and oral malformations that occur very early in pregnancy, while the baby is developing inside the mother. What happens is that there is not enough tissue in the mouth or lip area, and the tissue that is available does not join together properly. To differentiate: A cleft lip is a physical split or separation of the two sides of the upper lip and appears as a narrow opening or gap in the skin of the upper lip while a cleft palate is a split or opening in the roof of the mouth. The lip and the palate develop at different times so it is possible to have a cleft lip without a cleft palate, a cleft palate without a cleft lip, or both together.

Mommy Maelin founded the group Proud Families of Cleft Cuties last Nov 17, 2015. Now there are three additional admins namely mommy Carol, mommy Alexandria and mommy Lara. Thay all have clefties in the family. The purpose of the group is to spread awareness regarding what cleft lip and palate is and support for the families of those who have them. They have been giving hospital kits to newborn clefties and also rent out baby carriers for the parents. Check out the pictures from last year's celebration below!

This Dec. 7, 2017, Proud Families of Cleft Cuties will be celebrating their second anniversary at the Jesus Datu Hospital San Vicente, Bacolor Pampanga. The event will start at 10 AM onwards. There will be a program with giveaways and raffles. They also have an ongoing online contest on their Facebook Group Page so check it out and join! Want to help out? Proud Families of Cleft Cuties are open for donations like baby carriers, vitamins,  hospital kits or toys or any other items that may help cleft cuties in their journey. You may contact them via their Facebook Group.

We are #CLEFTSTRONG. We are #CLEFTPROUD. We are against #BULLYING!!!
